"Thank you for being such an amazing maths tutor and for helping me secure a grade 9 😀 !"
"I would highly recommend Jo as a GCSE maths tutor. As her student, I learnt how to methodically approach difficult questions and apply my knowledge logically to unfamiiar problems; Jo taught me to break down wordy questions that I often struggled with to find key pieces of information, and then ask "What maths can we do?" - this approach helped me a lot with abstracting information, a key skill in GCSE Maths. Furthermore, I always appreciated how efficiently she used lesson time, by listening to her students and considering what they struggled with the most and she guided us with respect, not fear. I felt comfortable making mistakes and asking questions, which made it much easier to learn. "

"Before we found CQT we had tried a 1:1 tutor at home for almost a year. Despite the extra support we weren’t seeing much progress and, more importantly, my son’s confidence in Maths remained very low. I felt we needed to try something different.
Initially, I wasn’t sure whether an online group lesson would work for my son. However, after speaking to Jo, I decided to give it a try — and I’m so pleased I did.
One of the biggest differences was the structure of the tutoring. His previous tutor asked him what he wanted to work on and often he wasn’t sure. With Jo, he had a clear schedule of what they would cover each week, so he no longer had to worry about what he should be revising. He felt reassured knowing he was systematically covering everything he needed to.
The weekly practice papers showed his progress building, but it was his growing confidence that stood out most. He started tackling questions he would previously have avoided, and working through more challenging questions in his sessions helped him realise what he was capable of.
The online homework Jo set was also incredibly helpful. If he got stuck, he could watch videos explaining the topic and get back on track, allowing him to work more independently without feeling defeated.
By the time he walked into his GCSE Maths exams, he was a completely different student. Instead of feeling anxious and unsure, he was genuinely confident in his ability and knew he had prepared properly. He has now secured the Maths grade he needed and is absolutely thrilled with his result.
Seeing that transformation from low confidence and limited progress to walking into his GCSEs believing he could succeed has been fantastic. I’m so glad we found Jo and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a tutor who can build both confidence and ability."

“I found Jo to be a phenomenal maths tutor for my son. She quickly built trust, understood what he needed and then spent the tutor sessions helping him build his knowledge and confidence in the subject, including how to approach different types of GCSE questions. He enjoyed the sessions, looking forward to each one, and thrived under her mentorship. With Jo’s help, he went on to get a great GCSE results, which enabled him to go on and do the A levels he wanted at the 6th form of choice. Jo is clearly a very skilled tutor and I would thoroughly recommend her.”

“Following the mock results, we reached out to Jo for support for our daughter for her maths GCSE.
A structured approach to topic revision, looking at different topics week by week, helped her to embed her learning so that she could really understand the subject areas that she had struggled with in the year 10 exams, and in the mocks. Providing this support gave her confidence and installed a sense of calmness in her revision. And by taking the time to look at and practice exam questions, breaking down each question to say “what is the question asking us to do”, and explaining how to answer the questions step by step in order to gain as many marks as possible, really helped her to get the grade that she needed.
Providing tuition that was aligned with my daughter’s ability was key.
Supporting my daughter by providing a comprehensive revision programme tailored to her ability was really beneficial. She wouldn’t have done that on her own! It gave focus to the areas of maths that she needed to practice.
I would recommend starting with Jo at the beginning of year 11 to have the full year of guidance and support.
Thanks Jo-you made maths fun too!”

Dear Jo,
I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your support.
Thanks to your help, our son hasn’t just improved in Math, he’s also grown a lot in confidence. He’s realised that with focus and effort, he can achieve higher results.
Over the last six months, he’s come a long way. He used to average around a 7 in STEM subjects, sometimes a 6 or 8. Now he’s expecting at least an 8 in almost all his GCSEs and even a 9 in Maths; which is a big jump, especially since the school originally predicted a 7.
It’s been amazing to watch this change. Honestly, the actual grades don’t matter to us as much anymore.
What’s more important is seeing him take things seriously, work hard, and believe in what he can do.
He’s also become more organised and driven, all on his own, just because he wants to do even better.
Thanks again, Jo!

“Even more than the grade I can see his confidence / enjoyment of maths has improved since he’s been tutored by you. He used to get fed up and say he hated maths etc. Last week he just got on quietly with your maths homework with no fuss and when I offered help he said “no I can do it.” I was thinking what a difference! Such a great change in his confidence to tackle and have a go! That’s priceless!
